Lucy Grindon introduces us to Alex Barylski, who plays the piano at Marie’s Crisis Café, a showtunes-only singalong piano bar. Regulars call him Alex B., or Alex B-Side; he likes to play the unexpected songs. Actually, “unexpected” is kind of his whole thing. Before he started playing at Marie’s, he worked in the Russian art department at Christie’s Auction House. Before that, he was a business lawyer! So how’d he end up behind the piano?
